SOLIHULL CC’s National Youth Series campaign continued over the weekend at the North West Youth Tour where the Harrison and Mitchell brothers tackled the three-day, five-stage event.

Centred around Blackpool, Lancaster and then Preston Arena, the weekend kicked off with a short prologue and then a race around Blackpool on Saturday.

Richard Harrison and William Mitchell both put in good prologue times in the U10s event and Richard consolidated this with a fine 5th place on stage two while William lost a bit of time on the leaders. Richard followed these results with an excellent 9th and a 5th in stages three and four but a bunch crash lost him real contention and he finished 11th overall, less than he deserved for a fine weekend’s riding.

William also rode strongly over the three days and ended with a well-deserved 13th place.

In the U12s event, Alex Mitchell and Ed Harrison posted disappointing prologue times but Alex was robbed of a top five finish in the race on stage two due to a crash.

Both riders rode well on day two at Lancaster and Alex took a fine 8th on stage four.

He then followed this up with an excellent 9th on stage five, held at Preston Arena, to finish 16th overall.
