A SOLIHULL netball club is celebrating after it was awarded £1,000 from Birmingham Airport’s Community Trust Fund.

The four-figure grant will enable Elmdon Netball Club’s youth section - including the newly-formed under 12s squad - to buy essential equipment for fitness and skills training.

Club spokesperson Alice Davey said: “We are enormously grateful to Birmingham Airport’s Community Fund for this big boost and we are looking forward to welcoming many more young players to the club.”

The club which was formed in 1972 was the first in the region to gain Sport England’s Clubmark status.

Currently they run teams from under 12s to adults with the top team now in the premier division.
