Celebrities take on golf challenge

Celebrities came out in force at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship.

Celebrities came out in force at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. Nailcote Hall welcomed the likes of Lee Sharpe, Ron Atkinson, Jasper Carrott and Martin Corry to test their resolve on the challenging Cromwell Course.

The day saw the Dowding and Mills team led by their celebrity, former cricketer Dougie Brown, win the team competition with a winning score of 89 points.

Former European Tour star Shaun Webster was the winning celebrity with an impressive four under par.

In what has been a fantastic week of golfing action, the Championship has seen greats of the golfing world take part including Tony Jacklin CBE, Larry Laoretti, Gary Wolstenholme MBE, Tommy Horton MBE and Carl Mason.

They have been joined by a cluster of younger professionals, who are stellar names on the prestigious European Tour, including: Graeme Storm, Scott Jamieson, David Dixon, Danny Willett and Simon Wakefield.

Snooker great Willie Thorne said: “This year has certainly surpassed previous years and we are really delighted that we have attracted the level of professional golfers and celebrities to make this event as enjoyable as possible for participants and spectators.”
