CENTURY makers David Smith and Attiq Chisti made sure Knowle and Dorridge returned to top spot in the Birmingham League Premier Division this week, writes Nick Pullen.
They both plundered exactly 100 not out as the Station Road side piled on the runs against Wellington to reach 325 for three.
But it was the leg spin of Chris Davidson that finally put the skids under Wellington claiming seven for 38 off 9.2 overs.
Skipper Jamie Spires confirmed: “Chris bowled beautifully on Saturday and was getting a bit of extra bounce as well.”
Spires own left arm spin accounted for Wellington dangerman Gerrie Strydom who became the third centurion of the game by scoring 110 before the skipper had him caught by Tom Payne.
But it was Davidson who did the damage reducing Wellington to 219 all out.
Knowle and Dorridge entertain bottom of the table Walmley on Saturday with Spires well aware of the threat former skipper Chris Howell possesses.
“Walmley are much better than their current position suggests. They’ve already beaten us in the Twenty20, so we know what to expect,” he said.
