THE facilities at Henley In Arden Tennis Club have had over £100,000 worth of improvements.
Floodlighting was installed on all courts, a new court was built and two courts were resurfaced thanks to a £40,000 grant and a loan of £38,000 from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), with support from Sport England, towards the total construction cost of £107,000.
Roger Draper, chief executive of the LTA, the national governing body for British tennis, said: “The facilities here are of a very high standard and I’m delighted that they will be used by players of all ages.
“The club has worked very hard to develop a coaching programme for their junior section and the new courts will only help that continue.
“There is a really strong community feel about this club and it’s a privilege to open these new facilities.”
Judy Wilde, Chairman of the Henley in Arden club, added: “We identified that we needed to maximise the capacity and potential for growth by rebuilding a court and having all our courts floodlit.
“Our business plan showed that we already had a regular increase in membership and our projections showed that we were able to meet the investment required.”
