Club unites to put on strong display

CENTURION Running Club maintained their challenge at the top of the Warwickshire Road Race League with a strong team performance in the five mile road race at Coventry’s Memorial Park.

CENTURION Running Club maintained their challenge at the top of the Warwickshire Road Race League with a strong team performance in the five mile road race at Coventry’s Memorial Park.

The race was won by Ben Jones from the host club Coventry Godiva in 25min 12sec with Dan Beier of Tipton Harriers 2nd (25-49) and Richard Harper of Leamington 3rd (25-56).

The ever reliable Paul Davies led the Centurion men’s team home in 28min 47sec and took his age category award but it was Centurion’s two youngest runners, Joshua Fullard and Jake Sorrell, who caught the eye.

The 15-year-olds were first and second in the under 17s category. Josh finishing in 30min 13sec, with Jake not far behind in 30min 51sec.

The men’s team was completed with excellent runs from Trevor Bacciochi in his best ever time of 31min 22sec, followed by Mark Carwardine (31-49) and Gavin Davies (32-06).

The Centurion ladies won their team competition with Theresa Woolley leading the way in 32min 50sec followed by Sharon Townley (35-34), Grace Healy (36-44) and Marilyn Maidment (38-18). Both Grace (U/20) and Marilyn (O/55) winning their age categories.
