SOLIHULL swimming club travelled to Leamington on Saturday to defend their Mercian League Winners title which they have won for 3 years in a row.

The final hosted some very good clubs such as Nuneaton and Bedworth, Leamington Spa, Worcester, Bromsgrove and Rugby. Solihull started their defence in fine form opening up a lead of 20 points after the first ten events.

The other clubs fought hard to close the gap but Solihull continued to pick up first places with 39 swimmers achieving a personal best time. Fraser Luckhurst, Daniel Moore, Aslan Lewis, Tom Slater, Fergus Morris, Vinson Yeung, Abbie Diskin, Evie Topping and Charlii Leaper all won their individual races and the relay teams picked up first place in nine events.

When all of the races had been swum, Solihull were clear winners with 234 points, a massive 50 points more than second place Worcester. Solihull recorded 18 firsts, 12 seconds and 10 thirds out of 50 races. The performance of the team emphasised the impact of head coach Sarah Brown on Solihull Swimming Club since her arrival.

This result comes on the back of the excellent news that Solihull Swimming Club junior squad qualified for the finals of Division 1’s Junior League.

If you fancy trying swimming at a competitive level and being part of a winning team at all age groups, why not arrange a trial on Friday nights at Tudor Grange, and you can experience for yourself the friendly atmosphere and great team spirit in the club.
