SOLIHULL Sixth Form’s teenage Basketball Academy captain Ben Timms has caught the eye of a top professional team.

Ben Timms, aged 18 and from Solihull, impressed so much at a recent trial with Division One outfit Coventry Crusaders that they have signed him up professionally.

“I’m really excited,” said Ben, who is studying Chemistry, Geology and Physics at A Level.

“I love basketball and enjoy playing for the college, but in signing for Coventry I’m going to be up against good quality players, both in practice and in games - which should really help me to develop my game.”

College Academy coach Richard Parker added: “This is fantastic news for Ben and a great reflection on the Academy that we can act as a stepping stone to the next level. Ben is a determined person and I know he’ll do himself proud.”
