YOUNG golfing prospect Daanyal Spalding is preparing for a trip to San Diego after qualifying for the Callaway World Junior Championships.

The 14-year-old from Hall Green won a British junior tournament at Woburn Golf Club to earn a place in the event in America.

Playing off an impressive handicap of 4.8, the Tudor Grange student is no stranger to success after winning three other British junior tour events throughout the country.

The North Warwickshire Golf Club member is also looking forward to a final in Portugal and the European Boys Championships in Gullane next month.

Daanyal’s father, Ronnie, praised his son’s coach Michael Beaumont for all of his help.

“Michael has helped a lot and he’s noticed the improvement of late,” he said.

“I’m really proud of Daanyal because he’s worked hard at his game and he’s played some of the toughest courses in the country.

“I’m now hoping to get some backing and support to help him progress.”
