FIFTEEN year old Danielle Khan of Solihull Cycling Club stormed to victory on Monday night at Manchesters’ Velodrome to win the National Youth Sprint Champion for Under 16 Girls.
In the discipline in which Olympic gold medalist Victoria Pendleton will compete for Great Britain at London 2012, she proceeded to win all her best of three sprint rounds 2-nil.
Taking on the much fancied Ellie Coster in the final, Khan, again didn’t need a decider, as she came round the final bend to snatch the gold medal and National Champion’s rainbow jersey by inches.
Khan is better known for her exploits on the ice as she is a Great Britain speed skater and only took up cycling three years ago to work her legs during the summer.
Now she has to decide which discipline to focus on, her previous goal was the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in 2014.
Also at the nationals Under 14 rider Lucy Shaw finished fifth in the multi-discipline Omnium.
