THE ever popular Solihull CC Veterans Race took place at Bearley, near Henley, on Sunday June 5 and the club managed to field 14 riders in the three races.
In race 2, for ages 50-59, Ian Cowan was in good form again and powered to third place in the final sprint, taking second in C category.
This followed his superb win the previous Wednesday when he timed his attack to perfection near the finish of the first Wishaw Concorde series of criteriums and finished nine lengths clear of the chasing bunch.
In race three of the Solihull Vets Race, for ages 60+, David Rutherford attacked on the first hill up to Wolverton and the group of four that formed forged a break that was never caught. At the finish there were three riders left and David lost out to Don Parry of Team Corley in the sprint to finish second. Tony Taylor of Team Jewson MI Racing took third spot.
