SUPER cyclist Matt Clinton came top of the pile in this weekend’s time-trials at Wolvey.
Soaring temperatures meant there were tough conditions for the Hinckley CRC event, with Clinton (Mike Vaughan Cycles) competing in both the 10-mile TT on Saturday afternoon, and the 25-mile TT on Sunday morning.
As the sun climbed high on Saturday afternoon, a 70-rider field for the event had Clinton off at number 50, with plenty of riders to chase on the course.
Flying across the line it was hard to tell how well Clinton had done, but he was the only rider to have gone sub-21 minutes in a time of 20:45 (28.9mph).
Sunday morning would hopefully bring cooler, stiller conditions for the 25-mile event, with Clinton tipped by some of the local riders to take the course record.
Crossing the line in 53:35 (28mph), Clinton finished just 27 seconds off that record, but comfortably in first place overall.
