Matt Shaw got back to winning ways this weekend in the WMCCL Regional Championships (Round 10) at Baggeridge Country Park at Sedgeley, near Wolverhampton.

It was five wins out of 10 events for the youngster from Solihull CC to take a stranglehold on the U10 series going into the last two events.

It also shows he is in top form leading up to the National Championships at Sutton Park in the New Year. Just behind Matt another breakthrough was achieved by Ben Breakwell, who finished in the top three for the first time.

Equally impressive in the same race was their young team-mate Jack Rootkin-Gray who, despite having only just turned seven, finished in the top ten to easily win the U8 category.

Kelton Aldridge was the best placed club rider in the U12 race with ninth. In the ladies event Rebecca Keogh finished in eighth place.

In the Youth Race it was more podium places for the club with Danny Fox putting in another gritty performance to take the silver medal in the U14 category with Jack Ravenscroft overcoming some setbacks on the course to take bronze.

A quality ride by Jake Blakemore in the Junior’s Race saw him take seventh. There were good rides also by the girls, other young riders and seniors.
