Fine podium topping ride for Ravenscroft

THERE was an excellent turnout in Elmdon Park, for Round Five of the West Midlands Cyclo-X League on Sunday.

THERE was an excellent turnout in Elmdon Park, for Round Five of the West Midlands Cyclo-X League on Sunday.

Promoted by Solihull Cycling Club, the event attracted an impressive 158 riders, all under the age of 18.

Jack Ravenscroft repeated his National Trophy win with another fine ride to top the podium in the U14 category, and this time Danny Fox excelled himself to join Jack on the rostrum for third place, with Alex Mitchell not far behind in fourth spot.

Joe Fox forged ahead on his own in the U16 race, chasing Sam Lowe of Raleigh Avanti RT, to take an impressive second place. In the same race Natalie Clements rode a sterling race against the boys, to take 30th place, but got the better of her opposition to top the girls’ podium in the U14 category, while Danielle Khan took 26th to be the second U16 girl.

In the U10s race Matt Shaw took another fine win for the club and Ben Breakwell, improving rapidly, grabbed the third spot. In the U8s category, in the same race, Jack Rootkin-Gray bettered his previous fifth place with a super third place, and Rachel Mayhew rode very well to be the second U8 girl.
