In form Docker wields the bat to steer Olton to a famous victory

OLTON closed the gap on second placed Bablake Old Boys with this stunning home win.

OLTON closed the gap on second placed Bablake Old Boys with this stunning home win.

It means they sit just one point behind them on 239 in the Warwickshire Premier League, albeit some way short of runaway leaders Streetly who have 288.

Bablake won the toss and elected to bat and started supremely well with 118 for the first wicket between T Bristow and L Desouza who was first out for 26.

Bristow continued batting solidly as the score mounted. However Olton’s fielding held up brilliantly and restricted the flow of runs as much as they could backing up good spells of bowling by Ellis and Docker.

Bristow carried on serenely and at the close of the innings was 153 not out with Bablake making 266-2.

Olton’s batsmen were determined to chase the score. Gately started well and though he lost Sykes and Simpson by the time the score reached 39 he went on to score 57 and was third out at 107.

Captain Mike Ceillam joined Nathan Docker and kept the score moving at nearly six an over. 200 came up in 34 overs and the game was won in the 41 st with Docker 132 not out including 17 fours and 4 sixes and Ceillam 48 not out.

Nathan’s innings was his second successive hundred having scored 124 against Nuneaton the previous week.

This win moves Olton up to third and keeps the pressure on leaders Streetly.

Saturday, Olton travel to mid table Bedworth hoping to carrry on their winning ways.
