SOLIHULL Swimming Club hosted a Junior Gala at Tudor Grange Pool last Saturday, fielding two teams against other local Junior squads, namely Blythe, Perry Beeches, Chase, Derby and Walsall.
This was the first home gala for Kate Hill (the new head coach), and it proved to be a fantastic start to the year.
With a record attendance in the spectator area, this was a very competitive gala with Solihull’s Yellow team leading the way throughout the night and ending up in first place with a massive 44 points ahead of second-placed Chase, winners of last year’s gala.
Perry Beeches pushed hard for third with 209 points, just edging Blythe Barracudas into 4th place with 205, with Derby on 200, Walsall 140 and Solihull Black 120.
The Solihull Yellow Team took 27 first places with all of the girls winning their relay races and the boys coming first in the majority of theirs. Solihull swimmers also won 14 first places in individual events.
The team now look forward to the Leicester and Nuneaton Junior Leagues.
