Having just missed out on the prize money last week, Mark Wevill, from Solihull CC, came third in his age group on Sunday in the final event of the Percy Stallard 2009 race series at Enville, west of Stourbridge.
On a tough, hilly, course the racing was fierce for this decisive race in the season-long event and Mark did well to take the prize.
Over at Salford Priors, near Alcester, the time trial team were competing in the Team Midland Open 10, on the A46, and the club’s tandem duo of Eddy Priddy and Colin Williamson were the winners of this category in the very good time of 20-54.
Richard Eason clocked the best solo time for the club of 22-32, to close a good season for him, with Simon Gates hitting 24-06 and Steve Jenks a 26-22.
Meanwhile, over at Rosliston, the Cyclo-Cross team congregated en-mass for round 3 of the West Midlands X League.
On this hard and dusty course the team again secured some impressive results. Danielle Khan rode strongly to take the first Girl prize in the U16s race and the ever improving Beckie Keogh was on the podium again in the Vets & Ladies event.
In the boy’s event, Joe and Danny Fox were again in great form. Joe broke clear with another rider in the U16 race, then punctured, ran half a lap for a bike change and still finished second, only 13 secs down on the winner.
In the U14 race his brother Danny also took second with another well judged ride. In the U10 race Matt Shaw was fourth, Kelton Aldridge fifth in the U12 event and there were many other good team performances.
