Solihull Junior Barons Under-12s have won the Godiva Cup, a yearly ice-hockey tournament held in Coventry.
Solihull beat Coventry 5-2 and then had a great result beating Sheffield 2-1 in the preliminary stages.
The last game of the qualifiers saw them lose 1-0 to Telford – but this was enough to get them in the final against the same opponents.
This proved to be a nail-biting affair. After normal time the score was tied at 2-2 resulting in three minutes of sudden death overtime.
Although both teams went close there were no breakthroughs so the game went to penalties with Solihull winning the best of three shootout 2-0 to win the Godiva Cup for the first time in their history.
It was a great result as the team included some U10s and some playing their first game.
