Solihull Swimming Club kicked off their Mercian Trophy campaign with a superb 34 point win in their meet at Tamworth, beating swimmers from Perry Beeches, Oldbury and Tamworth.

The Mercian Trophy has been won by Solihull 10 times in the last 11 years and this start was just what they needed to try and reclaim the silverware.

Solihull had a great meet, winning 26 of the 50 races held, amassing a total of 262 points on the night to come across decisive winners by 34 points. Solihull also managed to win 10 of the 16 relay races also held on the night.

Jess Climer was the pick of the swimmers, swimming above her own age group in the 100m breast stroke to claim second, and then went on to win the same race in her own age group.
