Hayley Barry becomes Shirley Tae Kwon Do club's youngest ever champion

SHIRLEY Tae Kwon Do club are celebrating their latest champion in the shape of Hayley Barry who recently won the British Championships at the Telford International Centre.

SHIRLEY Tae Kwon Do club are celebrating their latest champion in the shape of Hayley Barry who recently won the British Championships at the Telford International Centre.

With over 1,000 competitors from over 200 clubs all bidding to become champions in their respective division, Hayley, aged just 14 at the time, won the British title in her first black belt competition.

The club, based at Light Hall School, has produced a stream of national champions under the guidance of two times world champion Steve Merricks.

Steve said: “We are all extremely proud of Hayley in becoming our youngest ever black belt British champion. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication and Hayley thoroughly deserves this success.”

The club is offering free trial sessions for all new members on Wednesday, February 22. Children’s sessions for five to 10 year olds run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm with adults and families from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
