IT WAS a disappointing weekend of hockey all round for Olton and West Warwick’s men’s and ladies teams, with both sides condemned to defeats.
The ladies travelled to Clifton in the FHL Investec Premier League where they suffered their second consecutive loss. Clifton ran out 5-0 winners thanks to two goals in the first half and a trio in the second. While the Olton performance was below standard, the score didn’t reflect the game as the young Olton side fought to pull back some form of consolation.
In the Northern Conference, the men were edged out by Belper 2-1.
Welsh international James Kyriakides was the beneficiary of a well worked goal but Olton’s failure to convert chances was punished by Belper. A late penalty corner levelled the score, before a counter attack stole the points.
The men travel to Doncaster this weekend, with the ladies hosting Surbiton Saturday at noon.
