Hockey gets a rush with new five-a-side

NEW five-a-side hockey games have started at North Solihull Sports Centre and Tudor Grange Leisure Centre.

NEW five-a-side hockey games have started at North Solihull Sports Centre and Tudor Grange Leisure Centre.

Rush Hockey has been developed by the England Hockey Board (EHB) to attract a new generation of players to the game.

Weekly taster sessions are available and a network of leagues and regular sessions will be established in the New Year.

The sport welcomes all abilities and male and female players.

Linda Hughes, head of Rush Hockey in Solihull, said: “It’s a great way to play whether you are new to the sport or play regularly.

“It tackles lack of spare time with shorter 40-minute games and smashes through fitness worries with smaller pitches.

“It’s indoors, it’s outdoors, it’s five-a-side or four-a-side. Players can get all the team spirit, huddles and thrills whenever and wherever they want.

“Rush Hockey is furiously fast, fun and simple to play.”
