Hockey: Gloucester 4 Olton & WW 1: Second-half goals kill off Olton hopes of breaking their duck

Olton ladies first team set off to Gloucester with high hopes of three points to get their campaign off the ground.

The ladies first team set off to Gloucester with high hopes of three points to get their campaign off the ground.

The game started well for Olton and in the first 20 minutes they had a lot of possession in the attacking half. This resulted in a penalty corner that took a good save by the Gloucester keeper to keep the score 0-0.

However, there were few other chances created and it was the home team that scored first. They followed this up with a well-worked penalty corner and it looked like the half-time score would be 2-0 to the home side.

However, a well-worked penalty corner on the stroke of half-time from Olton made it 2-1. The scorer was Becky Slater for her first goal of the season.

The feeling at half-time was that the game was there to be won so Olton went out with a new determination. Again there were some good passages of play by the team but nothing to show for it. Gloucester took two further chances well and unfortunately Olton suffered their fourth consecutive loss.
