Midlands Premier Division
Chesterfield 1 - 7 Olton
With Olton’s unbeaten record and Chesterfield having lost all of their five opening games, this match was only ever going to go one way. Goals from Tom Pickersgill (2), Oliver Needham, Tom Mallett and an Ed James hat-trick finished off Chesterfield, who scored a late consolation goal.
West Midlands Division 2
Oswestry 4 - 4 Yardley
Yardley almost pulled off an amazing victory in an eight goal thriller and a game of contrasting fortunes. Oswestry must have thought they had the three points in the bag as they went off at half time four goals to the good but whatever was said at half-time transformed Yardley’s fortunes. Scott Olliver, Ismail Mutlib and Luke Menzel - with two goals - brought the scores level, and could have won it in the dying minutes.
Old Sils 5 - 1 Wednesbury
Two first half goals by man-of-the-match Max Levenger helped Old Sils take a 2-1 lead in the first half. Jamie Clapham and Liam Cole added goals in the second, before Chris Thorpe finished off a resounding victory, scoring a well worked goal.
Old Sils (2nd X1) 3 - 2 Stone (2nd X1)
Old Sils registered their first points of the season against Stone. O’Malley opened the scoring after lobbing Tom Fuller in the Stone goal, but the visitors scored an equaliser before half time. The same player managed to get his third before Stone scored a consolation goal late in the match.
Hampton-in-Arden 6 - 2 Solihull Blossomfield
Hampton came out on top against local rivals Solihull in the East Midlands Premier League. Solihull were on top for much of the first half and opened the scoring through Calum Willard, yet three late goals by Hampton saw them take a 3-1 lead into half time. Hampton’s fourth goal of the game knocked the stuffing out of any last hopes the visitors had of getting back into the game, and added two further goals before Solihull’s late strike.
