Brace of victories on road keeps Barons' impressive run going

Solihull Barons made their final road trips of the Laidler Conference campaign and extended their unbeaten run to 21 games.

Having closed out the league title last weekend, the Solihull Barons made their final road trips of the Laidler Conference campaign and extended their unbeaten run to 21 games.

The weekend had the potential for an upset with Hull having gained a reputation for unpredictability, while Widnes, fresh to the league this season, had showed their mettle in defeating second-placed Deeside Dragons in recent weeks.

The Barons, however, stuck to their task and put in a pair of convincing displays justifying their new champion status.

Andrew Whitehouse earned the man-of-the-match award for four goals at Hull, while Erik Bakalar took the honours for a hard-working display in Widnes.

On Sunday, the Barons welcome the Deeside Dragons to Solihull for the final league game of the season in what promises to be an exciting champions versus runners-up tie.

The game will also give the loyal Barons support a chance to see their team lift the inaugural Laidler Cup. Face-off 6pm.
