A treacherous course beckoned for Solihull Cycling Club’s Youth Team as they took part in the sixth and final round of the Curborough Circuit Race series.
In the under-8s race, James Upton continued his good rides and finished second overall. A crash in race one for the U10s took out three of the club’s riders, but Connor Fox and Richard Harrison both rode race two, with Connor securing third place overall.
In the U14s race, brother Danny also rode well to gain second overall, while other brother Joe, having only recently returned from injury, took third in his race and secured second overall.
Natalie Clements won her race on the day and Becky Keogh continued her superb run to finish in first overall. James Alexander took eight overall in the U10s and there were very good performances from Keira Mckeown, Harvey Wadsworth and Kelton Aldridge to support the team.
Solihull Cycling Club’s David Rutherford was the sole club representative in the ICF Masters event on Sunday (August 2).
The event, which took place at Aartselaar, near Antwerp, in Belgium was hindered by heavy rain and a number of riders did not take part.
The finish was a narrow gallop past steel barriers on the town’s main street, with Rutherford finishing the best placed rider from the UK in ninth.
