Solihull Barons 0
Billingham Stars 3
AN injury-hit Barons were unfortunate to suffer defeat at the hands of would-be champions Billingham Stars after an intrepid showing at Hobs Moat Road, writes Matt Johnson.
The depleted bench did well to hold off the might of the Stars and even had chances to snatch a result, but a wonder strike and a five-on-three powerplay effort late on in the game were enough to see the away side to victory.
The Barons were missing no fewer than seven players for the clash, with top-scorer Richard Slater and influential import Mike Rodger both missing due to head injuries.
Despite this it was an evenly matched encounter.
Head Coach Darren Bellerby said: “We had chances, but chances get you no points. We’ve got to put them into the back of the net and we haven’t done that for three games. Hopefully we’ll get a few back from injury and continue to battle.”
