AN innovative basketball academy is being set up by Solihull College next month.
The new Development School has been created to take in the best young players in the region.
It is to be run by Steven Mroso, a former international British Basketball League player, who is also an experienced coach.
He said: “In recent years there’s been a surge of interest in basketball locally, which is why I’ve been in talks with the college to lead the coaching of this new Development School.
“The course caters to mixed abilities, so I’m not expecting anyone to slam dunk a ball from one end of the court to the other, as this course is about untapped potential.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people who are serious about improving their skills, and combining it with a conventional course. I’m really looking forward to getting people through the door and onto the court.”
The programme begins on Monday, September 7. For more information about the Development School for basketball and other sport courses telephone 0121 678 7000 or visit www.solihull.ac.uk
