IT was the girls who led the way when Solihull Cycling Club welcomed the cream of UK youngsters to their Sprint Series in Tudor Grange Park.
Under 16 rider Lucy Shaw dominated the bunch sprint to win comfortably by two bike lengths from her team mate Natalie Clements. Along with Sophie Faulkener, the girls made up three of the top four places.
For the boys, Jack Rootkin-Gray in the U10s category stole the show with a very impressive combination on time trialing and road race tactics to come away with the win.
Meanwhile the club’s top performers showed a clean pair of heels in the recent Youth Tour Of The North West. The three-day stage race tested the riders in windy conditions on Blackpool’s sea front.
The club’s star performers were once again Lucy Shaw who finished third with Sophie Faulkener seventh.
Elsewhere U12 rider Ben Breakwell won the final race of the Curborough series in Lichfield with team mate Luke Chappellow winning the handicap race.
