Solihull CC’s recent impressive results continue. Last Sunday saw round two of the national MTB (Mountain Bike) XC series at Dalby Forest in Yorkshire.
On a course that tested the nerve and skill of every rider to the utmost, the 25 per cent gradient ‘Rock Garden’ caused the most difficulties but it didn’t stop Solihull CC’s Jack Ravenscroft and Danny Fox riding the event.
Fox struggled with both hayfever and breathing difficulties but finished bravely in 25th. Ravenscroft (pictured) had a faultless ride on a course that really suited him, finishing ninth.
Meanwhile at the Shirley Road Club 25 mile Time Trial, Solihull CC dominated with Adnam Saithna coming home with the best solo time of 59 mins 30 secs. Eddy Priddy was 1’23” down in 3rd, Jethro Bartle a further 2’ 10s back in 5th with Steve Mountford another 5’54” in 7th.
Colin Williamson and Dave Homer completed the event in tandem, clocking up an impressive 59 mins 23 secs.
The Warwickshire RC Club’s 10 mile TT took in the first outing of the year on the A435. The two lap course between Portway and Ullenhall made for some close racing and on a cool evening with a brisk wind, a great performance from ‘Solihull Super
Veteran’ Dave Rutherford was a reminder of the serious form of some of the club’s senior riders.
Rutherford’s 23’ 39s was good enough for second on the day with Colin Williamson fourth some
45 secs behind.
