ANDY Barnett was presented with a hugely deserved double award by ex-England and Glamorgan player Robert Croft MBE at K&DCC last weekend.
Not only did he secure his team’s bowling award for his 38 wickets in the season but also secured Clubman of the Year.
Andy led his 2nd XI team through the Warwickshire League programme unbeaten winning 12 of the 14 games. In a wet year, this terrific performance was achieved with a very young side bolstered by only a few seniors.
There were many fine performances with the bat; Matt Bentley had an outstanding season with a hundred and several fifties. His opening partnership with Adam Williams took the score to over 200 against North Warwickshire with both batsmen reaching centuries.
The bowling was spearheaded by Andy Barnett whose 38 wickets helped win the League. There were also good performances from Hassan Shariff, Jamie Hughes, Stuart Hill, Nigel Moore, Ollie Brown and Jack Hughes whilst Richard Brown’s economy rate helped quieten most sides
The award was greeted with a standing ovation as Andy is a popular member of the club.
