Kite flies high

SHIRLEY had Scott Kite to thank as his late winner sent them through to the quarter-finals of the AFA Senior Cup.

SHIRLEY had Scott Kite to thank as his late winner sent them through to the quarter-finals of the AFA Senior Cup.

Paddy Fanning gave the visitors the lead early on but the ten-men Division Three title contenders – who had their goalkeeper sent off – hit back with a follow-up to a 25-yard free kick.

Fanning then bagged a fine individual effort but the hosts bounced back with another equaliser before Kite scored the winner late on.

Tomorrow Shirley take on Erin Go Bragh in the Birmingham County FA Junior Cup semi-final.
