Knowle & Dorridge 225
Welling ton 223
K&D will be looking to put any lingering fears of relegation behind them when they take on second from bottom Leamington away in the Birmingham Cricket League premier division on Saturday.
They’ll be buoyed by a sparkling performance against Wellington which saw Sam Reddish enjoy a knock of 99 and Attiq Chishti one of 81 to close on 225 for four in 44 overs after restricting the visitors to 223 in their allotted 55.
Knowle & Dorridge have suffered for the past month without their three pros Stef Piolet, Richard Johnson and David Hemp but skipper Jamie Spires believes they’ve now turned a corner, and will be further bolstered by the return of Hemp on Saturday.
He said: “My gut feeling is that if we can win that game (against Leamington) we can dispel the clouds of relegation, cement our place in the Premier and play with a bit more freedom.
“We’re being realistic, but if we can put together a few wins in a row then we can start pushing back up the table.”
