In form Premier Division leaders Knowle & Dorridge took their league form into the Cockspur Club Twenty20 Competition as they brushed aside Himley on Sunday.

It now means that the Station Road club will play in the regional final, representing the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League.

In the game on Sunday, K & D were impressive as they hammered Himley (128 all out) by eight wickets with four overs to spare.

Winning the toss, K & D elected Himley to bat first on what turned out to be a lively pitch. Himley lost early wickets as Ben Coley struck three times, in his first three overs.

Stuart Wedge (39) and Greg Wright (31) staged a recovery but Coley returned for a fourth over to finish with the outstanding figures of 5 for 14. Chris Davidson was also impressive, picking up 3 for 43, as Himley attempted to post a competitive target.

As K & D came into bat, the pitch had eased, allowing David Hemp (ex-Warwickshire) to make an excellent 46 not out. He was well supported by Attiq Chasti, who got 44 without losing his wicket.

The two batsmen eased K & D into the final with four overs and one ball remaining. K & D will host the West Midlands Regional Play-Off, taking place on Sunday, August 30.

Rain stopped play in most of the games in the Birmingham and District League over the weekend, with no local teams facing action.

The same soggy story applied to the Warwickshire Cricket League, with all games involving local teams abandoned.

In the Arden Sunday Cricket League only two games went ahead. Solihull Municipal A managed to thrash Kings Heath by seven wickets in Division 3, whilst in Division 4, Berkswell B overcame Sheldon Marlborough B with 117-8.
