Despite the intervention Scott Wharton took 11th place, Wayne McKeown 12th and Ben Mountford rode superbly to take the prize for the 1st Junior. Owain Lovell from Ashfield RC won.

At Bishampton, near Pershore, it was the club’s veteran riders were in action. Ivor Thomas coming second in the 55+ race.

In the 40+ race Ian Cowan finished third in the 50-54 category.

Meanwhile Bob Richards celebrated the overall win in the 65+ season-long series of races at the Milton Keynes Bowl.

Elsewhere, close to 20 Solihull CC riders competed in Round 2 of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League, at Holt Heath Nr Worcester, with some great results. In the Under 10 race Matt Shaw stormed off from the gun to take a lead that was never challenged.

Not too far behind him James Alexander, Harrison Knight and brother Jacob took fourth , fifth amd sixth respectively.

In the Under 12 race Josh Gunn came third.

Meanwhile Joe and Danny Fox competed well in the first round of the national trophy race at Exeter on a tough and dusty course.
