A BUSY week down in Bristol saw Hatchford Brook Golf Club members return up the M5 with mixed emotions.
Tricky Thornbury Golf Club played host to two challenging competitions - the Bourne-Vanneck Shield and the UKPCC Regional Final.
Only Mark Adams and young Robert Killarney positively emerged from the UKPCC event - both qualifying for the national final at the prestigious Eden Course at St Andrews Golf Club.
Hatchford were cursing their luck in the Bourne-Vanneck Shield as they narrowly missed out in both the gross and nett events.
Former club captain Dave Cadman led the way with a superb nett 69 (three under par) and was ably supported by Paul Davies who carded a nett 70.
However, remaining scores of 72 and 74 halted Hatchford’s progress as the West Midlands runners-up lost by one shot to West Sussex-based Tilgate Forest Golf Club in the nett event.
In the gross event Hatchford finished third, eight shots behind eventual winners Bournemouth & Meyrick Park.
