SPEEDY Nadine Mayhew, riding for Tanworth-based Cult Cycles, triumphed in the Ruth Eyles/Beacon Roads CC ladies time trial series which reached its conclusion last Thursday evening under the auspices of Shirley Roads CC.
The ladies observed a minute’s silence before the racing got underway as a mark of respect for Solihull CC’s Cath Ward who was killed riding a time trial earlier this month.
Mayhew finished second in the final 10 mile TT in 26 mins 8 seconds, behind Concorde RC’s Michelle Drakely who recorded 25:48 but it was enough for her to clinch the series.
Solihull CC’s Janet Marsden picked up the trophy for the best improvement.
Meanwhile in the regular Shirley Roads 10 mile trial, Andrew Haddon squeezed home by just three seconds from Steve Lloyd in 27:39 and Ossie Smith in 28:07.
Alistair McChesney of Solihull CC was the fastest private trialler in 23:16
The club’s next event is this Sunday, a 25 mile TT on the k34/25C course starting at 9am. Visitors welcome.
