MARVELOUS Melvin Davey, of Solihull Marsh Lane Bowls Club, has won the Averages in the Tuesday team.
It’s been a wonderful achievement which has seen him win most of his games, both home and away.
This year has seen the team play in a different league against many new teams.
A delighted Melvin also paid tribute to his team mates, Ray Pyle and Gary Timmins, both being new players from Land Rover.
Meanwhile, Graham Perry has returned to bowling after a 20 year gap, while John Hodges has moved into the area from Stoke.
Last Sunday saw the annual Mixed Doubles competition at Marsh Lane, and saw a record number of participants; partners for the game were drawn out of a hat.
The final was reached at 6.30pm on a cold August afternoon. Fergus Allison and Sandie Shaw played Craig Saunders and Rita Hammer.
This was the third year running that Rita had reached the final, and in a closely fought match, it was almost dusk when it finished with Hammer and Saunders victorious.
