Miah shines for BMX team

The Knowle-based Signature Racing Team travelled to Birmingham’s Perry Park Race Track for the 2013 BMX Series British Championships

The Knowle-based Signature Racing Team travelled to Birmingham’s Perry Park Race Track for the 2013 BMX Series British Championships.

It was a successful weekend’s racing for the team, especially Mia Wallace, who made it through to the British Championships final to take the 08 plate.

Mia, aged nine, a pupil from Knowle School qualified for the Brits as Midlands #5. Mia started off the day well with a fourth and two thirds in her qualifying motos and moved on to the semi-finals where a tense last straight battle for fourth place was enough to take Mia through to her first British Champs Final where she finished eighth.

Ethan Wallace, the Midlands #8, moved out of a tough qualifying group with a fifth, third and fourth in his motos into quarter final action where a terrific swoop into one of the corners which took Ethan into third and semi-final qualification was halted by a crash which dropped him back into sixth and ended a superb day’s racing.

Ian Wallace who went into the Brits as the Vets Midlands No 1 also managed a fifth, third and fourth in his qualifying motos, enough to move onto the quarter-finals, where a comfortable third place finish secured his place in the last 16. The semi-final was the end of the road though for Ian when a huge crash took out half the pack including Ian who had to settle for sixth place but was happy enough to take the UK #12 spot on the day.

The team now travel to Doncaster this Sunday for the Midlands Championships.
