It was a superb double Fox win for Solihull CC in Round 9 of the WMCCL Cyclo-cross event yesterday at Sundorne Sports Village, Shrewsbury.

The conditions were very muddy, with some steep banks to negotiate, and just completing the course was a challenge.

The two brothers were both in the youth race for U16s and Joe convincingly won the race overall by over two minutes while Danny finished an excellent tenth to win in the U14 category, close to two minutes ahead of his nearest challenger.

In the U10 race, after the club’s team had filled the front of the starting grid, Matt Shaw had to settle for second behind Lewis Askey of Lichfield City CC, and yet again his team-mates weren’t far behind. Ben Breakwell, Jacob Knight, James Alexander and Harrison Knight completed the race in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh places,

In the combined Veteran/Junior/Ladies event a top class field made it tough for the club’s riders and Gary Rowing-Parker, in veteran category, was the best placed rider in 55th place.

In the Ladies category Rebecca Keogh suffered from the lack of a spare bicycle in the muddy conditions and had to settle for 93rd.
