Sils signed their season off in style as they clinched the Warwickshire Women’s Hockey League Division Four title.

Sils signed their season off in style as they clinched the Warwickshire Women’s Hockey League Division Four title.

And it proved a crucial victory with Nuneaton Ladies Thirds, the only team who could catch them, beating Rugby and East Warwickshire Thirds 4-3.

Initially, both teams were strong and there was an even keel to the game but the Sils went up 1-0 with a goal from Sally-Anne Lawrence, which set the tone for the rest of the game.

Despite best efforts from Leamington, Sils scored further goals through Lucy Gilbert and Tamara Majevadia to go into the break 3-0 up.

During the second half there was some inspired play by Sils, including a long-range assist from sweeper Rachel Weston leading to a top of the D stunning hit to the back post from Katy Craddock, followed only a few minutes later by a second from Craddock in free play.

Majevadia completed the scoring with here second goal of the game after Craddock found her at the far post with a beautiful cross, leaving her with an easy slot into the goal with the keeper totally wrong-footed.
