Olton & WW 1 Canterbury 1
OLTON faced top of the Investec Ladies Premier League Canterbury at Grange Road with the visitors anxious to impress, especially with Leicester breathing down their necks.
Despite some good defending and scoring opportunities, it was Canterbury who took the lead in the closing stages of the first half.
The second half was played out in much the same fashion. In the 49th minute Kerry Thompson-Moore’s putting Olton level with a well stuck penalty corner goal.
Olton attacked with intensity, and maintained a much stronger defence than seen in previous weeks, with a great last man effort by man of the match, Laura Price, diving to clear the ball of the goal line.
It was a hard fought for point, and a crucial move up the league table and makes Saturday’s away fixture against the University of Birmingham, level on points, crucial.
