Olton & WW 1 Reading 6
AFTER a 1-0 victory at Reading’s home ground at the beginning of the season, Olton knew they were not unbeatable.
However, with Alex Danson scoring a double hat trick the previous week, and with their GB players well rested it was going to be a very different game at Grange Road. From the outset, Olton had a good pattern of play and some good attacking opportunities.
In defence, however they were unable to breakdown the pacy Reading forwards.
They went behind as early as the fifth minute with a goal from open play, before Alex Danson caused the home side all kinds of problems scoring in the 18th minute.
Reading were vulnerable at the back and had given away several penalty corners and in the 19th minute Mandy Gatherer who put away a rebound from a Kerry Thompson-Moore shot.
Two minutes later Danson scored her second followed by another goal this time set up by Danson.
Olton still went looking for goals, leaving them vulnerable in defence. Danson often drew saves which were then finished off by the Reading forward line.
The final score was disappointing however with young and new players now well integrated, more is to come out of Olton after Christmas.
