Olton & WW 2
A WEAKENED Olton travelled to Kent to play table-topping Canterbury in a game that both sides needed to win, but for very different reasons.
Canterbury wanted to consolidate their position at the top of the Investec Premier League.
Olton meanwhile needed the points to to avoid the play offs and take the pressure off next week’s game against Birmingham University at Grange Road.
Things started badly for Olton falling a goal behind in the first minute and 2-0 down after five. Pascale Massey pulled one back after 10 minutes, but Canterbury scored three more before half-time.
The second half was a lot closer with Canterbury scoring a sixth goal in the 58th minute with their second penalty of the match, while Kerry Thompson-Moore scored Olton’s second a minute later.
There were no more goals but other results mean that Slough are now relegated and Olton need to beat Birmingham University by three clear goals to avoid the play-offs.
