* Olton Ladies 2 Canterbury Ladies 2
EUROPEAN hockey is just one game away for Olton Ladies, but things couldn’t be any tighter at the top of the Premier Division.
The Grange Road side hold a one-point advantage over last weeks opponents Cantebury, while Leicester sit in fourth a further point adrift.
But with all three teams capable of clinching the elusive runners-up spot Olton know they must beat seventh-placed Poynton to guarantee their fate.
Leicester must be Slough to stand any chance of qualification while Canterbury will have to end the champions Bowden’s 100 per-cent record if they are to finish second.
The Kent-based side will feel they missed their chance last weekend against Olton who held them a 2-2 draw.
As expected, both teams came out with all guns blazing and, on 11 minutes Canterbury opened the scoring when a clever diagonal ball from Mel Clewlow split the Olton midfield and Cathy Gilliat-Smith slotted home.
Olton fought back and 17 minutes later were on level terms when Denise Marston-Smith was at the end of a slick passing combination.
After the break Holly Chipman put the hosts ahead but when Kerry Thompson-Moore was sent to the stands for an innocuous tackle Olton knew they were up against it.
Disaster struck with 12 minutes to go when Clewlow levelled the scores and there was to be no way through for the home side who were denied a goal after Rachel Walker’s effort was ruled out.

GOALS from Jack Mallet, Nick Jones and Daniel Sulway helped Olton fight back to grab a deserved draw.
Both teams were in red-hot form and little could separate the two.
The hosts took the lead but Olton bounced back to earn a point that keeps them in sixth place.
