LAST Sunday Olton’s Under 15 team won the Warwickshire Cricket Board Under 15s Premier League title.
This competition, played between the best 12 teams in the county, is the jewel in the WCB crown and winning this league is a major triumph. Not only that but it’s the second time Olton have achieved it.
On Sunday they handsomely beat local rivals Moseley.
Needing a maximum points win to secure the title Olton asked Moseley to bat first.
Their bowlers responded in fine style dismissing Moseley for a mere 38.
All six bowlers used took wickets, two apiece for Sean Baker and Rishi Patel, and one each for George Rees, Ben Brookes and Levi Snead while the pick of the bunch was captain Hugh Lilburn who took three.
After Lilburn and wicketkeeper Matt Pemberton were out early on Bobby Moseley and Sean Baker knocked off the winning runs to crown Olton as Champions.
This fine performance by a team highly under-rated by many because of its lack of County players caps a magnificent season by Olton’s youth teams.
