OLTON and West Warwickshire scored an emphatic win over Bedworth.
Bedworth won the toss and elected to bat and with 40 runs coming off the first 10 overs looked set to capitalise. Then Phil Ceillam got in on the act for the first time taking a good catch of a sliced shot by Dangerambizi at third man. Olton tightened their grip. Vyakaranam bowled opener Parnell for 24 and Jamie Hawkins took a good return catch to dismiss David Jakeman and Bedworth were 61-3. Oldham joined Jason Jakeman only to be outdone by Phil Ceillam again. Stroking the ball to the square leg boundary and looking for a four, Ceillam raced twenty yards flung himself full length, stopped it, picked it up and threw all in one go right into wicketkeeper Gately’s gloves and Oldham was run out decisively. Bedworth ended on 188-8.
Olton were in no mood to hang around. 55 came up in 10 overs. Docker went cheaply which brought Marc Webb to the crease to join Gareth Simpson. Their fourth wicket partnership of 86 came off 66 balls until Webb (48) top edged one to keeper Haynes. Gareth Simpson continued imperiously to 75 not out off 64 balls guiding Olton home in just 27 overs to win by six wickets.
