Olton & West Warwicks 103-9 (8pts) Losing Draw against Fillongley 168 all out (16pts)
After a promising start to the Warwickshire Premier League last week, Olton suffered a minor setback here.
Olton started brightly with Jamie Hawkins (2-30) bowling good lines and dismissing both opening batsmen.
Steven du Cros (1-33) continued the tight bowling and with the aid of Nathan Docker kept Fillongley to just 99-4 at the half-way point.
After a 20 minute break for rain, Olton continued the pressure to eventually bowl out Fillongley for just 168 with Docker finishing with 4-27 and Liam Gatley taking three catches off the Australian’s bowling.
Olton seemed confident going into the chase but Gareth Stratford only managed to survive two balls to be dismissed for a duck.
Soon Olton were left struggling at 31-3. Rain then hit again reducing the overs to just 38. Docker hit some lusty blows before getting out for 39 leaving Olton nervously on 62-5.
Wickets quickly fell leaving Olton hoping the tail could survive for the losing draw in which Jamie Hawkins saw off the final ball for Olton to gain just 8 points.
Olton will need a performance if they are to beat Kenilworth away next Saturday (1.30pm start).
Olton 2nds finished just a whisker away of winning against Warwick 2nds, only to miss out by just one wicket. Jez Bishop was the star man with a knock of 108 not out.
