THE WAIT for Solihull Ice Rink to re-open was worth it, for Renault Solihull Barons as their first home game in months, resulted in an 18-0 victory.
Playing against Grimsby in front of a bumper crowd of just under 800, the Barons’s captain, Rob Eley, was fittingly the first player to score on the brand new ice pad.
Goals were scored at regular intervals, and the Barons led 8-0 at the end of the first period. The second period was again dominated by the home side, who took the score to 12-0. Some entertaining passing plays, and another six goals were scored in the third, and final, period.
