A GRADUATE of Solihull College teed off her professional golf career in fantastic style after finishing third in the Slovak Open in May.
Rachel Jennings was leading the field by one shot after a five-under-par first round, but narrowly missed out on a first place finish.
The 22-year-old gained her Ladies’ European Tour Card after completing the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) for Golf at the college in 2010. Rachel said: “The competition has taught me that I can compete. I was in the final group and I held my own.
“Being on the AASE was fantastic as it allowed me to concentrate on training and competing as an international, while also gaining qualifications that will benefit me in the future.”
The AASE programme is a specialist course for athletes, usually aged between 16 and 19, who have a potential to play sport professionally.
